2019 — Founded in Canberra
Six co-founders, two years of research, and a deliberate decision to build for Australian compliance requirements from day one rather than retrofitting them later.
Our story · Canberra, 2019
A Canberra-founded SaaS company with a single focus: helping Australian organisations collaborate without friction.

Distributed work is not a temporary condition — it is the permanent shape of Australian organisations.
Goldcoastnet was founded in Canberra in 2019 by a team of four product engineers and two organisational psychologists who had spent the previous decade inside Australian government agencies and mid-market technology companies. Their shared observation was specific: organisations investing heavily in individual productivity tools were still losing significant time to cross-team coordination failures. A project manager in Canberra could not see what a developer in Brisbane had just committed. A finance analyst in Sydney was working from a dataset three days older than the one the Melbourne operations team used. The tools were capable in isolation; the gaps between them were expensive. That observation drove two years of structured research across 40 Australian organisations before a single line of Goldcoastnet's code was written. The result is a platform built around the actual handover points where Australian distributed teams lose time — not around a generic international feature checklist adapted for a local market.
Goldcoastnet serves organisations with 10 to 500 staff — and is deliberate about that boundary.
Our Canberra-based team of 22 operates in two squads: a product engineering group that ships platform updates on a fortnightly cycle, and a customer success group that onboards, trains, and supports every account directly — no outsourced tier-one support. We value directness: if a feature request falls outside our roadmap, we say so rather than parking it indefinitely. We value data integrity: every analytics figure the platform surfaces can be traced to its raw source event, so clients are never asked to trust a number they cannot verify. What we do not do is serve consumer use cases, event management, or creative production workflows — Goldcoastnet is purpose-built for knowledge-work teams whose primary output is decisions and delivered software, not visual assets or logistics. Similarly, while our predictive analytics are accurate for teams with at least six months of platform history, early results for new accounts reflect global benchmarks rather than your own data — something we disclose clearly during onboarding, not after a client questions a forecast.
Five years from first concept to 1,200 active Australian organisations.
Six co-founders, two years of research, and a deliberate decision to build for Australian compliance requirements from day one rather than retrofitting them later.
Platform launched to 18 design-partner organisations spanning government, financial services, and technology. All Australian data residency and SAML SSO features were present at launch.
Reached 500 active client organisations, entirely through referral and word-of-mouth — no paid acquisition channels during the first two years of growth.
Shipped the machine-learning delivery forecasting module, trained on anonymised data from 300 client teams. Average forecast accuracy within two percentage points of actual outcomes at the six-week horizon.
“We chose Goldcoastnet specifically because the company is based in Australia and genuinely understood the compliance constraints we operate under as a government-adjacent organisation. Two years in, the platform has handled two major restructures without us needing to rebuild our workspace from scratch — the flexibility was exactly what was promised during the sales process.”
